The Most Expensive CS2 Knife: Offers, Listings and Actual Sales (Sep 2026)

The most expensive CS2 knife is the Factory New Karambit Case Hardened pattern #387, the "Blue Gem", valued at $1.5–2 million on the strength of a reported $1.2 million offer its owner refused — and it has never sold in public, so it has no price. The most expensive knives you can actually buy on 9 September 2026 were Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire Doppler phases on the Karambit, M9 and Butterfly at $4,400–17,300, a Karambit Crimson Web at $6,400+, and one StatTrak Skeleton Knife Crimson Web listed around $17,000.
This file keeps those three categories apart: offers and valuations, listings, and confirmed prices. Most lists blur them, which is how "the $1.5 million knife" became a fact.
The Blue Gem: an offer, not a sale
Karambit Case Hardened #387 is the one Factory New copy of the pattern with an almost fully blue play side, held by a Chinese collector who has publicly refused offers including a reported $1.2 million in Bitcoin. Marketplace blogs and collector estimates put its value at $1.5–2 million. Every source we read in September 2026, including one marketplace's own "most expensive" list, says the same thing in the fine print: there is no verified public sale, so the figure is a valuation.
That does not make the knife worthless; it makes it unpriced. Ordinary Karambit Case Hardened copies were $1,540–1,870 in Factory New and $615–685 worn on the check-date, and the blue-gem seeds sit on a separate ladder priced by pattern index and blue coverage, where a single seed can be a multiple of the base price. The Karambit file covers the standard ladder.

Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire: the phases that actually trade
Gamma Doppler Emerald and Doppler Ruby and Sapphire are the top of the tradeable market because they are pattern-locked: the phase is fixed at drop, the float cap is 0.08, and supply is a fraction of a percent of all Dopplers. On 9 September 2026 the Karambit Ruby ran $7,300–11,600 on 255 listings and the Sapphire $4,400–13,000 on 274 — deep enough books that these are real prices, not one seller's hope. The Butterfly Emerald's lowest blended ask was $7,824 on 8 September with listings to $17,300.

The Karambit Emerald is thinner. A third-party list dated 17 August 2026 estimated a Factory New copy at about $14,000, and we did not read a confirmed lower ask, so it is printed as an estimate. The same list put the M9 Ruby around $8,000, the M9 Emerald around $7,500 and the Butterfly Sapphire around $6,500. What these phases did not do is crash: none of them bottomed near the 24 October 2025 lows that every standard Fade and Doppler hit, which is the strongest evidence that the trade-up update repriced supply, not desire.

Crimson Web: the finish that went up after the crash
The Karambit Crimson Web is the one headline finish whose all-time high is dated after the trade-up update: $18,007 on 16 November 2025. On 9 September 2026 the lowest Factory New ask was $6,400+, up 28.8% over thirty days, while the same finish in Field-Tested was $590 and in Battle-Scarred $530. The reason is float: Crimson Web's range is 0.06–0.80, so Factory New copies are genuinely rare, and the ones with a clean centred web on the play side are a collector market of their own.
The StatTrak Skeleton Knife Crimson Web sits in the same logic taken further — a 2019 shape with 25 finishes, a rare StatTrak Factory New, and one listing near $17,000 on a third-party list in August 2026. It is a listing, not a sale, and we print it as one.

The most expensive knife by shape, and by base finish
By shape, the Karambit: its worn Safari Mesh floor was second to the Butterfly's on 9 September 2026 ($365–380 against $408–428), but every record — the Blue Gem, the Emerald estimate, the Crimson Web high, the Ruby and Sapphire books — sits on the Karambit. By base finish, the Butterfly: its Fade was the most expensive standard-finish knife we read at $2,100–2,250 in Factory New, ahead of the Karambit Fade at $1,750–1,850. The Butterfly Knife file prices that ladder.
By history, the Karambit Fade: $5,543 on 6 May 2025, the highest confirmed ask we found for any non-phase, non-pattern knife, before the update cut it to $1,151 on 24 October. Where every shape sits now, floor to grail, is in all CS2 knives ranked with dated bands.
How to read a record-price claim
Three questions sort every headline. First, is there a transaction — a marketplace sale record, or a trade with both sides confirmed — or only an offer, an appraisal or a listing? Most seven-figure claims in this market are the second kind. Second, what are the wear and float: a Factory New pattern-locked phase at 0.01 and the same phase at 0.07 are different assets, and record claims routinely omit the number. Third, what is the date, because a sale in May 2025 and a listing in September 2026 describe two different markets on either side of the trade-up update.
The Blue Gem fails the first test, the StatTrak Skeleton is a listing, and the Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire figures above are the only ones with enough depth to call prices. Anyone quoting a record without those three fields is passing along a rumour with a dollar sign on it.
Where the five-figure knives are sold
On P2P markets with float, phase and pattern data on the listing, because on these items the pattern index is the price. CSFloat charges sellers 2% and shows all three fields; Skinport charges sellers 6% above €1,000 and buyers nothing; DMarket runs around 2% on liquid items and up to about 10% on illiquid ones, which five-figure phases can be. Trade Protection since July 2025 makes any trade reversible for seven days, and P2P markets credit sellers about eight days after delivery — at $10,000 that week matters. Listings: CSFloat, Skinport, DMarket, white.market, SkinBaron, Lis-Skins. Some are affiliate links that may pay us a commission at no cost to you; they never change a band, and none is a case-opening site.
Most-expensive-knife questions
What is the most expensive knife in CS2?
The Factory New Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem #387, valued at $1.5–2 million after a reported $1.2 million offer was refused. It has never sold publicly, so the figure is a valuation, not a price.
What is the most expensive knife you can actually buy?
On 9 September 2026, Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire phases: Butterfly Emerald listings to $17,300, Karambit Sapphire to $13,000, Karambit Ruby to $11,600, plus a Karambit Crimson Web from $6,400 in Factory New.
Has anyone paid $1.5 million for a CS2 knife?
Not in any verified public sale we could find. The $1.5 million figure is a valuation built on refused offers; even marketplace blogs that lead with it say so in the text.
Is the Butterfly Knife the most expensive knife?
It has the highest shape floor and the most expensive Fade, but the record items and the deepest five-figure markets are on the Karambit.
Did the most expensive knives crash in October 2025?
Far less than standard finishes. Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald phases did not bottom near the 24 October 2025 lows, and the Karambit Crimson Web set its all-time high on 16 November 2025, after the update.
